ALOR GAJAH MELAKA FLOOD RELIEF OPERATION

The number of flood victims in the 26 relief centers in the three districts in Melaka increased to 2,889 as at 9pm (Monday 31 January 2011) compared with 2,714 this afternoon.

A spokesman of the Melaka state flood operations room said Alor Gajah had the highest number of victims with 1,534 from 344 families seeking shelter at 10 relief centers.

In Jasin, 1,306 victims from 321 families were staying at 15 relief centres while 49 victims from eight families were staying at a relief center in Melaka Tengah.

The flood in Melaka claimed its first victim in Jasin where a security guard, Yusry Mohd Yusof, 40, was found drowned at the water treatment plant at Kampung Chinchin at 1.30pm.
