K. Balasupramaniam is the founder of The Malaysian Volunteer Fire & Rescue Association (MVFRA). He was a member of Malaysia Fire & Rescue Cadet Cops for three years and obtained his basic knowledge in Fire & Rescue in the Academy of Fire & Rescue in Kuala Kubu Bharu in .

On 20th May , K. Bala was awarded the highest award of the Fire & Rescue Dept, the

(Honory title of PKPB) by the Director-General of Fire & Rescue Dept. YAS Prof Datuk Dr. Soh Chai Hock for his contributions towards the country in safety and rescue related matters.

The Fire Hydrant Marshal
In conjunction with the Hydrant Adoption Program, K. Bala was awarded The Fire Hydrant Marshal by The Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Governments YB Datuk Usop Hj. Sukam for his initiative in creating public awareness on the importance of Fire Hydrant in fire emergencies.





SAFETY AWARENESS PROGRAMMES












































































HYDRANT ADOPTION PROGRAMME
 
The Objective of this programme is to encourage members of the public to adopt nearby Fire Hydrants besides educating them on how to maintain the hydrants so that they can be utilized during emergencies.










ZERO FIRE CAMPAIGN
This campaign is the fire prevention programme which is designed to educate the public on  "Learn How Not To Get Burnt" . The aim is to enhance fire safety awareness at home as well as how to prevent fires.


 

















ROAD RESCUE RIDERS PROGRAMME
The aim of this programme is to change the attitude of bystanders to become more proactive in providing first-aid to accident victims.
FIRE KIDS CLUB SAFETY WORKSHOP
This children safety workshop is to train children on fire safety, fire prevention and the right techniques to escape in a fire.





























ZERO FIRE  
This campaign is to create public awareness on fire safety both in the home as well as in the work place.



































Y2K ROAD SAFETY CAMPAIGN
This Campaign is focused on children in order to create road safety awareness and to encourage their elders to educate them on the need for road safety.


 









































HIGHRISE BUILDING FIRE SAFETY CAMPAIGN
This campaign is to educate residents on fire safety, create awareness among the public and to reduce fire incident in high-rise building.
FREE FROM SMOKING PROGRAMME
 
An anti-smoking campaign, which was supported by the Federal Territory Education Department, is aim at educating students on the dangers of smoking.





















































JUNGLE SEARCH & RESCUE TEAM
A trained jungle search & rescue program specially designed  to search for the victims who are lost in the jungle as well as to educate the trainers on basic jungle survival skills.
 
JALUR GEMILANG CHALLENGE

This is a p
atriotism project designed to build the largest National Flag by using empty mineral water bottles. This project, completed and displayed to the Malaysian public in conjunction with the National Day celebrations on 31st August , was recognized by the Malaysian Book of Records. 
 




HUMANITARIAN EFFORTS





Besides introducing various fire safety awareness programmes, educating members of the public on safety, battling disasters and rescuing fellow Malaysians in distress, K. Bala is also actively involved in humanitarian efforts, just to name a few:-

§   CHAIRMAN FOR DISASTER ASSISTANCE UNIT

Disaster Assistance Unit is responsible to provide assistance to disaster victims, such as providing food, clothing, provisions, diapers and etc.

 

 §   ORGANIZING CHAIRMAN FOR “Save Christina Lee Charity Fund”
In an effort to save the life of 26 year-old University Graduate who was suffering from Meloid Leukemia, half a million ringgit was needed for Christina to undergo a bone marrow transplant in Singapore. K. Bala, through The Lions' Club (KL West), took on the challenge against time to raise RM500, 000 within one month to enable  her to undergo the transplant at the Singapore
General Hospital.

 §   PROSTHETICS LEG PROGRAM
This program was initiated by K. Bala in . Among the first to respond was  43 years old K. Nagiah, who had his right leg amputated . His family was staying in the very unsafe and unhygienic place. K. Bala again took on the task in order to give a fresh hope to the K. Nagiah Family. Besides donating a prosthetic leg to him, K. Bala with the help of his MVFRA volunteers, managed to rebuidt the house for the family. Following the news articles, few more cases came along which were also helped by K. Bala, e.g.:-

- Lim Beng Teng (45), both legs amputated due to diabetes, was given 2 prosthetic legs.
- Rajeswary (40), whose left leg was amputated, was given a prosthetic leg.

 §   INDIA – GUJARAT EARTHQUEKE RELIEF CHARITY FUND
K. Bala initiated the IGERC Fund to help the needy in India after the area was destroyed by a a terrible earthquake.

 §   Cochlear Implant
A dream of Master Ang Wai Loon came true when K.Bala raised fund for his Cochlear Implant.
