Association donates clothes to fire victims

SIXTY fire victims from Taman Selera Muda, Cheras, received clothes and provisions from the San Peng Road Voluntary Fire Department Association on Sunday.

The clothes and provisions were from among the items donated to the association by the public, said K.Balasupramaniam, 20, captain of the Voluntary team.

The three-year-old team with 20 members have been involved in major rescue work in recent tragedies.

The association also donated goods to the victims of the Puchong landslip a month ago.

The families have been staying in the area from . Almost all of the operate small businesses like sundry stores, motocycle workshops and furniture shops.

The estimated loss from the fire which engulfed their homes last Thursday, was RM189,00.

The 39 adults and 21 children will stay at the Cheras Secondary School Hall until they find new homes.

Abdul Ghani Haji Mohammad, chairman of the Taman Selera Muda residents’ association said all the families applied for City Hall flats in October  last year.

He hoped that City Hall would look into their applications soon.
