How to Start Playing at 96M Casino: A Step-by-Step Beginner Guide

What Is 96M Casino?

96M Casino is a premium online casino built specifically for Malaysian players, operating under a PAGCOR licence since 2020. It focuses heavily on live dealer games — partnering with Evolution Gaming, Asia Gaming, WM Casino, and Sexy Baccarat — but also carries a strong slots library and a SBOBet-powered sportsbook. 96M positions itself as a platform that works for both budget players (minimum bets starting low) and high-stakes enthusiasts.

The casino operates in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR), accepts local payment methods like FPX Online Banking, Touch n Go, GrabPay, and Boost, and offers customer support in English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Mandarin. Live chat runs 24/7.

As a new player, you'll appreciate that 96M does not require large deposits to get started — RM 50 is all you need to make your first deposit and unlock a welcome bonus. I found the registration flow clear and mobile-friendly when I walked through it to write this guide, which is a good sign for beginners navigating the process on a smartphone.

Before you register anywhere, it's worth understanding why a licence like PAGCOR matters. Our guide on whether 96M is safe and legit covers the trust signals in detail.

Step 1: Create Your 96M Account

Registration at 96M Casino takes under five minutes and requires basic personal information. Here is exactly what to do:

1. Go to the 96M website. Visit 96M Casino in your browser or download the app (see the Mobile section below).
2. Click "Register" or "Sign Up". The button is prominently displayed on the homepage.
3. Enter your details. You'll need your full name, email address, Malaysian mobile number, and a password. Use a strong password — a mix of letters, numbers, and a symbol.
4. Verify your mobile number. 96M sends a one-time password (OTP) via SMS. Enter it on screen to confirm your number.
5. Accept the terms and conditions. Read them — or at minimum understand that you must be 18 or older to register.

What You'll Need Ready

• A valid Malaysian mobile number (for OTP verification)
• An email address you actively use
• A secure password (never reuse a password from another site)
• Your Malaysian IC (MyKad) number — you'll need this for the verification step

After completing registration, you'll land on your player dashboard. Your account balance will show RM 0.00 until you make your first deposit. Don't be surprised — this is normal.

Common mistake: some beginners rush through registration and enter a mismatched name or phone number. This causes delays when withdrawing funds later, because 96M's verification process checks that your account name matches your bank account name. Enter your details exactly as they appear on your MyKad.

Step 2: Verify Your Identity (KYC)

KYC — short for Know Your Customer — is the identity verification process online casinos use to confirm you are who you say you are. 96M Casino requires KYC completion before processing your first withdrawal.

What KYC Involves

• Government-issued photo ID: A clear photo or scan of your Malaysian IC (MyKad), both front and back.
• Selfie verification: Some platforms require a photo of you holding your ID. Check 96M's current requirements at the verification page in your account dashboard.
• Proof of payment method: If you deposit via a bank account or e-wallet, 96M may ask for a screenshot confirming that the account belongs to you.

Why You Should Verify Early

Completing KYC before your first deposit is the smart approach. Players who skip this step and deposit first sometimes find their withdrawals delayed or queued while verification is processed. Submit your documents immediately after registration so everything is cleared before you ever need to cash out.

KYC is a standard industry requirement, not a sign that something is wrong. If you want to understand more about why licences and verification exist, read our explainer on why licensing matters for online casinos.

Step 3: Make Your First Deposit

96M Casino accepts six deposit methods, all processing instantly or very quickly. The minimum deposit is RM 50 for most local options. Here is a comparison of all available methods:

How to Make a Deposit

1. Log in to your 96M account and navigate to the Deposit or Cashier section.
2. Select your preferred payment method from the list above.
3. Enter the deposit amount (minimum RM 50 for local methods).
4. Follow the on-screen prompts — for FPX, you'll be redirected to your bank's login page; for e-wallets, confirm in your wallet app.
5. Your balance will update instantly once the transaction is confirmed.

For a more detailed walkthrough of each payment method, including troubleshooting tips, read our dedicated how to deposit at 96M guide.

Beginner tip: start with a small deposit (RM 50–RM 100) on your first go. There's no need to deposit the maximum to claim a bonus — you can always top up later once you're comfortable with how the platform works.

Step 4: Claim Your Welcome Bonus

96M Casino gives new players five different welcome bonus options, so you can pick the one that suits how you want to play. The headline offer is a 288% deposit match up to RM 2,880 — meaning a RM 50 deposit becomes RM 194 in total credit, and a RM 1,000 deposit becomes RM 3,880.

How the 288% Welcome Bonus Works

• Match percentage: 288% on your first deposit
• Maximum bonus amount: RM 2,880
• Minimum deposit to qualify: RM 50

In addition to the main welcome bonus, 96M runs a Live Baccarat 8 Winning Streak promotion that can pay out up to RM 3,888 — a unique offer for live casino enthusiasts that you won't find at most competitors.

Important: Read the Bonus Terms

Every welcome bonus comes with wagering requirements — conditions that determine how many times you must play through the bonus before you can withdraw it as cash. 96M Casino's specific wagering requirements are not currently published in detail on third-party sources, so check the Terms & Conditions page on the 96M website before claiming.

As a rule, never claim a bonus without reading its terms. Our guide on how to read bonus terms explains wagering requirements, game restrictions, and validity windows in plain English. For the complete breakdown of 96M's bonuses, see our 96M welcome bonus guide.

How to Claim the Bonus

1. After depositing, navigate to the Promotions section of your 96M account.
2. Select the welcome bonus you want to activate.
3. Confirm the selection. The bonus credit should appear in your account balance within a few minutes.
4. Start playing — your bonus credit will be subject to the wagering requirements stated in the terms.

Step 5: Choose a Game and Start Playing

96M Casino offers six game categories: slots, live casino, sports betting, esports, fishing games, and table games. As a beginner, here's a quick guide to each category so you can pick the right starting point.

Slots — Best for Beginners

Slots require no strategy or prior knowledge, making them the most popular starting point for new players. 96M carries slots from Pragmatic Play, JILI, 918Kiss, Mega888, and Spadegaming. Each slot has a published RTP (Return to Player percentage) — aim for titles with RTP above 96% for the best long-run odds. Look for the paytable icon in any game to check its RTP and volatility before spinning.

Not sure what RTP and volatility mean? Our casino glossary has plain-English definitions for every term you'll encounter.

Live Casino — If You Want a Real Table Experience

96M's live casino section is powered by Evolution Gaming, Asia Gaming, WM Casino, and Sexy Baccarat. These are professionally operated studios with real human dealers, streamed in high definition. Live baccarat, blackjack, roulette, and game shows are all available. Minimum bets vary by table — some Evolution tables accept bets as low as RM 1, while premium tables have higher floors.

Sports Betting — For Sports Fans

96M runs its sportsbook on SBOBet, one of Asia's largest sports betting platforms. If you're a football or basketball fan, you'll find pre-match and in-play markets across major leagues. Sports betting involves different skills than casino games — odds, handicaps, and markets all have their own logic. Read our sports betting guide for 96M before placing your first bet.

Fishing Games

Fishing games are a uniquely popular category in Southeast Asian online casinos. Players aim virtual cannons at fish on screen, with different fish carrying different prize values. They're easy to pick up, visually engaging, and sit somewhere between a slot and a skill game in terms of how outcomes work.

Our recommendation for new players: start with slots using a small stake (RM 0.50–RM 1.00 per spin) to get a feel for the platform without risk. Once you're comfortable with deposits, withdrawals, and how the lobby works, you can explore live tables or sports betting.

Playing on Mobile at 96M Casino

96M Casino supports full mobile play through three options: a native iOS app, a native Android app, and a mobile browser version. All three options provide access to the full game library, cashier, and customer support.

iOS App

96M Casino offers a native iOS app. Visit the App Store or follow the download link on the 96M website. Installation follows the standard iOS app install process.

Android App

An Android app is also available. Depending on your device settings, you may need to allow installation from third-party sources if the app is distributed as an APK file rather than via the Google Play Store. Check the 96M website for the current download link and installation instructions.

Mobile Browser

If you prefer not to install an app, 96M Casino's website is fully mobile-optimised. Open your browser (Chrome, Safari, or any modern browser), navigate to 96M, log in, and play — no download required.

For a full walkthrough of installing and using the 96M app, see our 96M mobile app guide.

Responsible Gambling — Read This Before You Play

Online casino games are designed for entertainment. They are not a reliable way to make money, and the house always holds a mathematical edge on every game. Before you deposit a single ringgit, set the ground rules for yourself.

The Three Rules Every Beginner Should Follow

1. Set a budget and stick to it. Decide in advance how much you are willing to lose — because losing is always a real possibility. Treat this amount like a leisure expense, not an investment.
2. Never chase losses. If you have a losing session, stop. Increasing your bets to "win back" losses is the fastest way to financial harm. Walk away, and return another day if you wish.
3. Do not play with money you need for essentials. Rent, food, bills — these are not gambling funds. Only play with genuine discretionary income.

Know When to Stop

Signs that gambling may be becoming a problem include: spending more than planned, lying to family about gambling activity, gambling to relieve stress, and feeling unable to stop. If any of these apply, reach out for help. Befrienders Malaysia can be reached at 03-7956 8145. Our responsible gambling page lists further resources and self-exclusion tools.

96M Casino offers account-level tools including deposit limits and self-exclusion — use them if you need to set guardrails on your play.
