Today being a volunteer fire fighter is a lot more than just running into burning buildings. There are many more aspects to it.
We do fund raising work. We educate children on fire safety lessons. We are very much involved in many aspects of our community. So if you have some extra time on your hands and would like to become part of us, please give us a call.
MVFRA Volunteer
Volunteers are the lifeblood of the MVFRA. They are trained to a wide range of skills. Rescue personnel are trained in first aid and general rescue techniques, and the other members in skills needed to deal with specific skills and planning.
Headquarters personnel are trained to manage operations and logistics, as well as to work with the media and coordinate community education activities.
MVFRA is always looking for volunteers to work in the field and to assist in managing operations, communications, media and community education.

Volunteers must participate in a competitive exam process consisting of a written assessment, a rigorous physical agility assessment, background check, and an oral interview process.
Minimum Qualifications
All volunteer applications will be reviewed by the Board of Committee to ensure that the applicant meets minimum qualifications. As a minimum, applicants must:
- You must be 18 years of age or older.
- possess a valid driver license (photocopy required).
- You must have a good legal standing.
- You must be in good physical condition.
- Read, write and speak English.
- Does not attached to any uniformed body / organizations.

A letter is sent to each applicant to notify them if their application has been accepted or not accepted.

If your application has been accepted, you will be invited to the second stage of the process - the oral interview.

The oral interview takes place.

Notification is sent to each applicant advising them of the oral interview results: either acceptance, non-acceptance, or placement on an eligibility list.

If you are accepted as the member of MVFRA, you must attend weekly training on Sunday (8.30am - 12.00pm), standby/on-duty once a week in the station, meetings and drills, and respond to calls.
