The "True Love Gives" fund raising campaign is launched on 14 February by YB Datuk Ir. Ong Tee Keat, Deputy Minister of Youth ands Sports Malaysia, with the aim to raise RM 10,000.00 for 2 needy Malaysian. They are Ms. R. Rajeswary and En. Mohd Sha'ari Bin Kulop Maarof.

This charity drive is organized with concerted effort with the following organizations:-

The Atria Shopping Centre
Malaysian Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association
Petaling Jaya Community Centre
Sweet Florist and McClient Florist


Ms. R. Rajeswary (16 years old), a form five student
February 8, may be a good day for everybody...but not for R. Rajeswary. At about 10:15 on that fateful morning, her brother went to fetch her on his motorcycle. Unfortunately her jacket was got in the wheel and her left arm was dragged into the motorcycle wheel and crushed. She was immediately rushed to hospital. However, after 6 hours struggling with pain at the emergency ward of Kuala Lumpur General Hospital, her crushed hand could not be saved and had to be amputated.

Her life is incomplete with only one arm.

 

 

 

Mohamad Sha'ari Bin Kulop Maarof, a 54 years old bachelor from Taman Rimba, Ampang.

En. Sha'ari, a  cook by profession, is a diabetic.

Due to the progressive degenerative nature of the disease, on August 7, , his right leg was amputated below the knee.

He is currently unemployed but he is hoping to work again with the prosthetic leg.

 

 



Shopping Centre's Charity Event for Duo

In conjunction with Valentine's Day yesterday, the Atria Shopping Centre organized a Caring and Sharing : Valentine's Day Charity Programme to raise funds for two needy Malaysians.

Jointly organized by the Petaling Jaya Community Centre, Malaysian Volunteer  Fire & Rescue Association, Sweet Florist and McClient Florist, the event was launched by Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Ong Tee Keat.

The aim is to raise RM10,000 to help Mohd Shaari Kulop Maarof and R. Rajeswary lead a better life.

Mohd Shaari, 54, a former cook, is diabetic and lost his right leg below the knee last year.

Meanwhile, 16 year old Rajeswary lost her left arm last February after she was caught in the rear wheel of a motorcycle.

Yesterday, Ong presented the duo with their prosthetic limbs.

During the event, Atria Shopping Centre placed boxes at the ground floor and sold flowers to raise money.

The shopping centre will also hold a charity sale this weekend.
